Marvelous Mereoni

Mereoni's Tapa ArtDaku’s own resident artist, Mereoni Tadulala, featured this week in the Fiji Times.

Mereoni, who has been creating and selling her tapa artworks for 10 years, learnt the traditional art from her mother. In the article in the Fiji Times Mereoni talks about the importance of keeping this cultural skill alive and passing it down to younger generations.

Mereoni’s tapa demonstrations are a very popular part of any Daku holiday – not only is she a wealth of information about the cultural significance of the artform, but she also allows guests to have a go at the painting themselves.

Daku guests who purchase a tapa painting from Mereoni take home a real piece of Fiji – a traditional work handmade by a true artist. It’s curious to think just how many pieces of Mereoni’s art are now gracing walls in houses around the world.
